After her husband died, Mahasti, a woman with one child, married a man who is younger than her. This is not a happy marriage as the differences in age, social background and culture become increasingly insurmountable obstacles. After eleven months of marital life, Mahasti, who works in a hospital, decides to leave her brutal and suspicious husband. After receiving the report from the legal doctor and according to Islamic laws, the court judge condemns the husband to pay a certain amount of money. Mahasti and Nasser start living together again, but their marital life does not last more than fifty days, during which the husband keeps brutalizing his wife and forbids her to get out of the house or to meet her female friends. As an educated woman, Mahasti cannot bear such a repressive life any longer.
