Master Garcia Mata is investigating about the death of Cardoza, a candidate running for mayor and a sworn enemy of Rosauro Castro, an influential politician who bosses everyone around, including the mayor himself Don Antonio. Chabelo, the female school teacher’sf iancé, refuses to leave the village as instructed by Rosauro. They confront each other over Rosauro’s monopoly on the sale of the village crops. Chabelo asks for Garcia Mata’s protection. He wants to sue Rosauro but the latter stops him. Rosauro’s wife, Marta, hears that her husband has an affair and decides to leave with their son, Angel. But he gets injured by one of Cardoza’s brothers during a shoot-out. Thirsty for revenge, Rosauro is killed by Don Antonio in the middle of a street.
