Bodybuilder and stripper Biggie is a former monk who has the special ability to see people’s karma. He meets rookie CIB agent Yee who he can see committed wartime atrocities in her previous life.
Johnnie To and Wai Ka-fai use their crazy dexterity to plunge us into Running on Karma, a singular cinematic work that mixes genres, sliding between seriousness and slapstick, skilfully mixing action and a more spiritual approach. Unfairly snubbed by the West (doubtless due to religious references that are alien to us), this extreme, funny and generous film is well worth discovering.
