Sanjuro, a ronin, is going to train nine young noble men who have decided to rebel against the corrupt management of Muroto, a bailiff in a small feudal state. Muroto is killed. “Wonderful!” one of the young men exclaims “You idiot!” Sanjuro snaps back: “Like me, he was a sword without a sheath. Good swords are better left in their sheaths.” Having said that, he leaves his young disciples and goes away.
