1952. Kemal studies in the Sadiki boarding school. Since the death of his father who was murdered by a secret colonial organisation, Kemal has doubts about the political situation of Tunisia. He finds a job in an old printing house. Si Taieb, the owner, is to marry his daughter Anissa, against her will, to a man she does not know. From then on, Kemal’s life is divided in two: a hidden and secret love life with his boss’s daughter and a social and professional life which leads him to take political sides. While a submissive Anissa watches the preparations of her own wedding, Kemal increasingly rejects the established order and joins a group miners on strike…
