Safi Faye was invited by UNICEF to take part in a program of films directed by women about the female condition in their countries. She speaks of the fate of women abandoned by their husbands who have gone to find work in town during the dry season: “You leave” says one of the men who have returned to the village, “but we stay here, for better or for worse”. The description of everyday life, repeated gestures, loads weighing down on shoulders and in minds, children always just around the corner and the songs you hum to express weariness and to give strength, bear witness to the continuity of life these women ensure.
