During the Japanese occupation of Taiwan, Lin Shih lives in a small island village with her husband, a brutal butcher who treats her as a sexual victim. Almost every night, he forces her to have sex with him before she is allowed to eat. This reminds Lin Shih of how her mother was raped by a Japanese soldier and subsequently committed suicide.
The gossipy and superstitions villagers take Lin Shih’s moaning during sexual
intercourse as cries of joy. But Lin refuses to moan and her husband starves her until
one day she faints on the road from hunger. On going ill-treatment will Lin Shih to rebel in a most violent way…
