Some Strings is a collective “work in progress” echoing a poem by Refaat Alareer, the Palestinian poet and professor killed in 2023 by an Israeli airstrike. In his poem, he invites the living to “find some strings” to make a kite, as a sign of hope in the Palestinian sky. The Festival des 3 Continents has selected some short films from the hundred or so films made by artists and filmmakers worldwide, following a logic of free association. They not only stand as a commentary on the situation in the Near East, but also as a series of impressions, ideas, evocations which all resonate just as this endless tragedy resonates around the globe.
