Made during the filmmaker’s residence at a junior high school in Aulnay-sous-Bois, Swagger presents a series of successively funny and poignant portraits/interviews of teenagers who explain to a complicit camera their views of the world, their dreams, their fears, their daily life. The secrets are disarming, words falter or flare up and what remains there of childhood goes straight to the heart (“the sorrows of little ones are not little sorrows”, wrote Janusz Korczak). Drawing on imagery from the repertoire of fiction cinema, the film pulls this little world, through warm and playful little scenes, towards a future to be built in the wake of the unforgettable Régis, the most stylish student in the world.
