Fernando Pacheco, aka El Suicida (The Suicide), is a young bullfighter who doesn’t fight in big arenas, but in popular festivals of small Mayan communities’ in the Yucatan Peninsula, in south-east Mexico. He is a heart-warming and honest character, but he’s also a violent and impulsive alcoholic. His private life, as well as his bullfighting, are insane and the film achieves moments of extreme realism that can fascinate and produce high tension. The scenes of domestic violence between El Suicida and his wife are of crude intimacy.
