An ailing man moves to a small provincial town to retire and live the rest of his life in peace and quiet. His wife died many years ago and his two daughters are grown up and work as nurses in Tehran. He meets and marries a young teacher and a new and welcome purpose is added to his life. But problems start when he and his new wife come to Tehran and find out that his daughters have gone astray. The events that follow are too harsh for him to bear and when the burden of his elder daughter’s suicide and younger’s unsuitable marriage are added, he lands in a mental assylum.
