A small town near Tokyo… A strong wind rises as young teenagers are on their way to school. A typhoon is announced and it starts raining. Having ignored orders to evacuate their high school, a few pupils decide to stay on.
A desperate – rather than cruel – tale of adolescence, Sômai’s fifth film is a blending of complex stories, which also gives a palpable dimension to the different situations created by teenagers’ relationships. The pretext of the hurricane plunges the film into a kind of closed space, open to the sky, whose ramparts are nothing more than the threat of the outside world – a world from which they dream of escaping for a moment.
