Two bandits, Santamaria and Urtiga, set out to commit acts of violence in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Santamaria, a mystic and visionary, believes in the imminent arrival of an angel who will purify his soul. The naive Urtiga also believes in the angel of salvation and follows his friend step by step. Finally, after countless twists and turns, Santamaria – who is gradually dying with his victims – identifies with the image of the angel and goes mad.
