The victim is Li Guangming, a schoolteacher from Dashuikeng, 24, bachelor….” These are the first words of the legal report made by the judge who came to the village to shed light on this murder case.. Throughout the film, his voice tells the tale and puts together the scattered pieces of the story. As the investigation is carried out, the judge unravels the ins and outs of the case. Li Guangming allegedly slept with Li Hongxing who had just got married. Li Pingwa and Li Gouwa, her two enraged brothers, immediately killed the man who dared stain their sister’s virginity. This looks like a simple case. But through a meticulous  investigation, the judge brings up many other elements in spite of himself…
