Old Han, former gate-keeper of the Peking Opera Academy, is bored out of his mind after he retires. Cantankerous but generous, he sets up all by himself a Peking Opera Club for senior citizens where pensioners can come to sing, play… and quarrel! A bit too enthusiastic in their attempt to win a local talent show, they lose. The members are dispirited and arguments begin over various minor details.
