After being forced against his will to desert from the army, Di Ming Qi comes across a nest of blue-eyed vampires out for his blood. He is rescued by Master Ding Yin, a monk with many powers, who takes him under his wing. He finds himself in a bitter combat between Good and Evil. With his new masters and acolytes, he has to find the Dual Swords which alone are able to slaughter the Blood Demon. Zu, Warriors from the Magic Mountain is a masterpiece of Hong Kong action films, drawing on the fantastic genre to develop the plastic possibilities of wu xia pan (martial chivalry) cinema. With complete confidence and 3D and animated special effects as well as the original forcefulness of editing (Méliès is not very far), Tsui Hark wields his cinematographic power which in this film involves the expert art of combining speed and weightlessness, both on the ground and in the air.
