In 1982, he made a documentary, the first of a long series of films devoted to social and ecological issues (the errors of the pharmaceutical industry, the difficult situation of fishermen in Kerala, the victims of radiation). For the past ten years, he has devoted himself to social and political cinema, with his filmmaker wife Ratna Mathur Sasi. Ilayum Mullum is his first feature film.
