Nguyen Hoang Diep

Born into a family of doctors, Nguyen Hoàng Diep’s passion for images from childhood led her to study at the University of Theatre and Cinema in Hanoi. Like many other young directors, she started working in television. Within two years, Nguyen Hoàng Diep became a well-known director on Vietnamnet TV. Together with some other young directors, Nguyen Hoàng Diep founded in 2008 an independent studio, VBLOCK Media, whose main purpose is to produce art house films. In 2009, she directed the production of Bi Don’t Be Afraid! by Phan Dang Di. Her first film, Flapping in The Middle of Nowhere, initiated in 2008, will be completed in 2014 and will be screened in numerous festivals, including the Festival des 3 Continents.
