Nobuhiro SUWA

Nobuhiro Suwa began his career in Japan in documentary cinema. In 1997, he took his first steps in fiction with 2/Duo, which won the NETPAC award at the Rotterdam International Film Festival. His second feature, M/Other, made in 1999 won the International Critics’ award at the 52nd Cannes Festival. In 2001, H Story gave him the opportunity to revisit the history of his home town. This out-of-the-ordinary film was presented in the 2001 Cannes Festival’s Un Certain Regard section. Increasingly Francophile (he filmed one of the segments of Paris, je t’aime), Nobuhiro Suwa also made Un couple parfait (Special Jury Prize at Locarno in 2005) in French and in Paris. He went on to co-direct with Hippolyte Girardot Yuki et Nina, presented at the Directors’ Fortnight in 2009.
