Rungano Nyoni was born in Lusaka in Zambia and grew up in Wales. She graduated from the London University of Arts. She has directed many short films including The List which won a BAFTA Cymru award and her film Mwansa the Great, was nominated for a BAFTA. She co-authored The Mass of Men, which won a Golden Leopard award at Locarno. Her latest short, Listen, co-directed and presented at the Directors’ Fortnight in the Nordic Factory programme, was nominated for an Oscar. Rungano was in residence at the Cinéfondation in 2013.
