Since it was created in 2000, the Produire au Sud workshop at the 3 Continents Festival has supported the development of nearly 300 film projects and 600 young filmmakers and producers, most of whom now work as experienced professionals in international film networks. Since 2009, this number has been reinforced by the diffusion of the PAS label abroad in partnership with international festivals (Thailand, Israel, South Africa, Taiwan, Chile, Morocco). Unprecedented in 2000 and now a flagship initiative for initial training on film industry platforms in 2017, the Produire au Sud workshops have created a unique international network of professionals, most of whom have successfully completed their feature film.
Each year, many films that passed through the workshops travel around the extensive global circuit comprising some of the most prestigious international festivals (Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Sundance, Busan, Locarno…). In its own way, the 3 Continents Festival upholds and helps to enhance the wealth, quality and diversity of this young production through the newborn PAS World programme (to be understood as the opening that Produire au Sud offers to international film networks), highlighting in passing the virtuous return of some noteworthy films to Nantes, the place in which they saw the light of day.
The first PAS World is presenting three films that have already had a brilliant career: The Wound (South Africa), The Last Painting (Taiwan) and Nalu On The Border (Brazil).
