Andrew SALA

Andrew Sala was born in 1981 in the U.S. but lived his whole life in Argentina. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Buenos Aires with a degree in Economics and later went on to study Film Direction at the Universidad del Cine where he now teaches.

His first feature film PANTANAL (2014), independently produced with very few resources, participated in Cine en Construcción of the San Sebastian Film Festival, was premiered at the Warsaw International Film Festival and participated in the Stockholm Film Festival and Mar del Plata Film Festival among others. The film is currently being commercially released in Argentina.

He wrote and directed four short films that were selected in more than 40 film festivals around the world: MIRADAS SOBRE BUENOS AIRES (2007), CIRCE (2009), COGER EN CASTELLANO (2010) which was part of the collective feature film CINCO, and ASESINATO EN JUNÍN (2012) which won the Best Fiction prize at Tampere Film Festival in Finland and the Prix Spécial du Jury at Poitiers Film Festival in France.

Currently he is developing his second feature film LA BARBARIE, with support of the Carolina Foundation, the Guadalajara International Film Festival and Cine Qua Non Lab.
